Well its kind of centered. There seems to be more rocker in the nose/tail than many other mostly rocker hybrid twins or directional twins with a centered stance out there. Similar Boards (but not the same): Korua Otto, Lib Tech Terrain Wrecker, Capita Mercury,YES NSB, Endeavor Pioneer, Jones Mountain Twin, Endeavor Ranger, K2 Manifest, Yes Typo, Jones Frontier, Ride Algorythm, Ride Wild Life. The Jones Frontier is a highly capable board that feels incredibly stable mid-turn and offers an average degree of edge hold. It has much more of a normal snowboard feel and isnt over grippy but when you hit a hard patch its definitely helpful compared to a board without it. Powder: The set back on board 4.5 is the same as it was before but just with a more narrow stance. The Jones Mountain Twins base is pretty fast and the board is pretty damp. James, Jimbo, Matt, Peter and a friend of ours named Ren, James, Matt,, Peter, Jimbo and many others. For example if you get the 156 and have a 23 wide stance then the set back inserts will work for you. 156W: 10-11 On their official website, the 2023 board is currently listed at $549.99. It adopted the Middle Bite tech from the Yes Jackpot, got a blunt nose/tail, changed the waist width sizing and considerably narrowed the reference stance. Jones All-Mountain Snowboards | REI Co-op Good board for those that like to ride with either foot forward but still want to set it back far for powder. If you do you get a 3.5 difference between nose and tail or a 1.75 set back from the center of the board. The 153 works best with my size 9 boots and the 156 works best with my 185 lbs and less importantly, my 510 frame. Weight The Jones Mountin Twin is not terribly heavy but definitely more on the light side of things. Its not enough to take away from feel of the board but just enough to make it feel damp without not being dead. Its got a -10mm set back. This is a great board for hard to icy snow. The added camber makes it carve up the pipe wall better than the older model. May 23, 2021 . Turn Initiation:Same middle ground turn initiation that isnt instantaneous but isnt hard either. At size 10-11 it would turn really well and most would call it med/fast edge to edge. The real strong point for us is this base seems to push the Jones Mountain Twin past most on those long flats you can often see at resorts. Compared to other Men's All-Mountain Boards. It stays above the snow well even when its centered. I think the thing that I like most was how stable it was at high speed on every surface, and how it boogied around trees. Switch: The tip and tail have different shapes but the contact with the snow is a twin so other than buttering its practically perfect switch. On Snow Feel: Stable to even semi catchy. Nothing out of the ordinary but it can ollie rather well. The fact that it is an intermediate/advanced board, this price point is standard, maybe even on the affordable side. Even though its not the fastest base Jones makes it has really good glide to it. Again its all about compromising with a one quiver board and I think most prefer the extra float in powder. Great pop really digs in for carving groomers. Here are the differences: So the changes that made to the Standard this year give it more of an aggressive all mountain freestyle flavor this year than before. Conditions:Pretty much everything from 2+ feet of powder to ice. Id say my only complaint with the Mtn Twin is the turn initiation is not that fast in tighter tree situations. Even the tip/tail butter easier than they use to. Well your research is right. Jumps: The Ghost is better for going bigger but the YES Standard is better for going small to medium while still being forgiving. . Ive had no problem on more mellow entry level boxes and bonks but its not something Id like to ride on more technical advanced jibs. The Jones isnt a chunder buster but its pretty good passing through a tracked out snow line without getting messy or bucking you. Bindings: Now IPO, Now Drive, Now Select,Burton Cartel,Burton Cartel Limited,Burton Diode,Union Force,Flux DMCC,Flux SF45,Burton Genesis,Union SL, Union Atlas,Union Contact Proand a few others. yes standard vs jones mountain twin. Sizing: The Mid-Bite sidecut has an indention near the wast so the YES Standard is actually wider over the bindings than the waist width would lead you to believe. It's a middle of the road park board flex. Yes basic/typo vs Jones Mountain Twin? : r/snowboarding - reddit Its also not bad if you have to deal with icy off piste kind of snow that you might find on the way to a powder stash or on a slack country adventure. Have you ever ridden a board with magnetraction? Even with the added camber the board will be easy to negotiate between trees and excellent on a narrow chute that might require tight turning. I felt it floated so easy in 1 foot of powder and it wasnt even trying yet. So much that I bought a Jones Flagship to charge harder. Riders:James, Jimbo, Matt, Peter and a friend of ours named Ren, Insoles: Footprint Insole Technology Gamechangers, Footprint Insole Technology Gamechangers Lite, Switch: Really good switch and just a little shy of a true twin. If you ride in icy conditions a lot it can hang but you would probably want something stronger like an aggressive magnetraction board. Pipe: Man this is a fun pipe board for less accomplished riders like me but also strong pipe riders as well. On top of that there is early rise in the nose/tail and the mellow spoon tech helps this board roll easier into a turn in powder. I havent ridden the Standard in powder but did with the Yes Optimistic 2015 and it had a really easy float. We try to get as many images of the Jones Mountain Twin, but forgive us if they're not all there. Boots: Burton Almighty, Burton SLX, Nike Lunarendore The board is made from SWS in Dubai instead of GST in Austria. It powers through a hard turn well enough but doesnt have that ultra satisfying mostly camber carve either. Then with a set back of -20mm its kind of a stretch for Jones to call this a twin. The 2021 Jones Mountain Twin has a longer effective edge and spoon tech in the nose tail making it for an easier turning poppier ride than past models. 162W: 10.5-12 We didnt lap the roller coaster park but felt this could do a great job with just about any size kicker the average to good rider can tackle. yes standard vs jones mountain twinsouthwest cargo phone number. The Capita basically has a bump between the bindings to help with edge hold while Yes basically has an indent between the bindings to do the same. That makes it more aggressive all mountain if you can get a little more set back and directional. Size: 157 yes standard vs jones mountain twin. Conditions: Pretty good mid-winter PNW conditions. Still its got enough to ride in harder snow as long as you dont fully commit in harder snow. Set-Up: 21, 21.5, 22 Wide. Riders:James, Jimbo, Peter, Kyle, Stephen, Mary, Lee and a few other friends not on the site. If you choose the freestyle stance of 22.8 as well you can get .25 back on board and ride it more like a true twin in powder if that is what you are into. Its not a bad here though for what it can do everywhere else. I've be willing to bet the same is true for Mid-bite but I haven't ridden that sidecut. It would be fine if they had 62 centered inserts per binding but at 52 it minimizes the max stance width too much. Expert Review: 2023 Jones Mountain Twin [with Video] - Curated The one thing with the Standard is you need full-sized disc bindings (not mini-disc) to get all of the directional float it can offer with its slam back inserts in powder. 162: 12-13 Switch:Now as I mentioned before the Jones Mountain Twin has a lot of directional tech with this board that makes it less than perfect to ride switch when centered. Pipe: Its just the kind of pipe board a really accomplished rider will like but its not a forgiving easy ride for those that arent that strong. Our Recommended Bindings: Union Atlas, Union Force, Union Contact, Union Contact Pro, Burton Cartel, Burton Genesis, Burton Mission, Salomon Hologram, Now Pilot, Arbor Cypress. You can really lay it out. For the rider who rides in hard to soft and onlyoccasionalice you will be more than happy with the edge hold. The new shape has spoon tech in the nose tail but it seems to mellow out or straight up stop right about where the camber ends. Show all. Yes Standard vs Jones Mtn Twin, Jones Ultra Mountain Twin - youtube.com Still the ride of the board feels a little more aggressive than its flex. Jibbing: Not a jib board and I wouldnt like to do anything other than a forgiving easy box. I love that it has more camber than the older Nidecker made model but over the years of riding this board Im kind of wanting a little more these days. Approximate Weight: Felt normal bordering on light. Press J to jump to the feed. I can only recomand this board .. Just took my 2015 Mountain Twin out for a breaking in yesterday. This isnt boring though and you can still get some good turns with the YES Standard. We thought this had a centered stance during the demos but we were wrong. The mellow rocker in the tip/tail gives it just enough to make it forgiving on semi-awkward landings. Ive found that carving is better with the Twin when you set back the stance so its centered over the set back camber so if you dont ride switch much set it back a bit. I was thinking about getting my son a Typo. Im always really confident even in icy conditions. Edge Hold: We like the mellow magnetraction that comes with the Jones Snowboards. The Jones Mountain Twin didnt out shine any of the other mostly rocker hybrid camber boards we tried but seemed to tie with them in terms of performance. However, the sidecut mellows out over the inserts so it tracks really well. Regardless of whether I was high-tailing down a groomer, playing in the park, gliding through trees, or plowing powder it was begging for more. Boots: Burton Imperial, Burton Hail, Burton SLX, Nike Lunarendor I also felt fairly confident bombing down runs. It still isnt going to keep up with Alt Freeride and Freeride boards like the Y, Hybrid, Optimistic or Pick Your Line but it does really well for a directional twin. Jones Storm Wolf Snowboard 2024. Turn Initiation: The 2018 Yes Standard is super slow compared to the 2017 Yes Standard I owned. Boots:Burton Ion,Burton SLX,Burton Imperial,Nike Kaiju,DC Judge,Nike Zoom Ites,Burton Ambush,Burton Ruler,Salomon Synapse Maybe its the mellow magnetraction bump in the middle but it just doesnt snap edge to edge super quick. The only issue here is the Slam back inserts require a full size disc binding. It seems like one of those boards thats better than camber for sure but more for the rider that knows how to plane well, keep their speed and really own a powder day even with a camber board. Jones Snowboards' founder Jeremy Jones helps you find your perfect snowboard in this multi-part video series that explains the differences between Jones models and how key components of a board's design affect board performance. You can of course go bigger or smaller but these work best for not turning the board slower than it should be and not having the dreaded Toe & Heel Drag. This is no freeride board built for speed but its very good for its shape and riding style. It just helps you initiate the turn a little faster and makes it easier in messy bumps or in the trees on a powder day. Itsan extended camber profile and set back the stance -20mm. Not a lot but a little. 10.5 boot and I'm currently trying to decide between the Jones Mountain twin 160, Yes typo 158, Yes standard 159, Salomon Assasin 159 and the nitro team 159 all of them from 2020. If you are driving hard wall to wall and going bigger its all about the Ghost but this is great for most. Bindings: Union Atlas, Burton Genesis X, Jibbing: No thank you. The Flex of the YES Standard is medium but on snow it feels much softer. I am much happier on boards like the YES Not So Basic Globe for my boot size. It feels damp and shock absorbent as you pick up speed. Edge Hold: Really strong grip without being grabby. After having ridden park boards, an old Rossi, and a few various brands, I took the plunge and bought the Twin. Its not an ice specialist but good in the conditions most find acceptable. Ethics Statement:We dont get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews. yes standard vs jones mountain twin. Uneven Terrain: If your boots fit the mid/wide sizing then you will be able to weave in and out of bumps really well. Approximate Weight: Set Up: about 23 one day and closer to 22.75 on others. The YES Standard offers a pretty forgiving board that progressively gets wider as it goes up in size and if your boot size matches up well to it you could have a pretty solid one board quiver to do a little bit of everything on the mountain. It doesnt quite feel like a true twin but it is super close to the point you might not notice. 15 front -15 back. Id love to see them make it a little faster edge to edge. Flex:Felt medium across the entire board and maybe bordering on the medium soft side of medium. Im probably in the minority by saying that Id like to see the camber extended a bit to lock in and spring out of the turn better. So it doesnt look as much like a twin as it rides on snow. Didn't get to try it in pow because of COVID can't wait till I do next year. Even if you are a beginner who is committed to the sport you could go with this. 519. It inspires confidence in harder conditions and acts just like a regular old school side cut in soft snow which means it doesnt grip. On groomers it acts like a twin on edge but in powder this floats more like a directional board. You know meBiestythe guy who writes all this shit. Its a shade less forgiving than the older model but still a great time. This makes for a very consistent feel underfoot in all conditions when one footing off the chair or flat basing. Now it is more in the middle. Approximate Weight:The 2015 Jones Mountain Twin 157 weighed in at 6.0 lbs which is .4 lbs lighter than the 2014. yes standard vs jones mountain twin - maccatraders.com GST closed down. that make it a little different than the 2015. Capita's Death Grip and Yes' Mid-bite are essentially polar opposites of one another. It has a shorter spooned nose/tail, longer effective edge, slightly tweaked traction tech and a new base. yes standard vs jones mountain twin - zacklinedinst.com Size: 156 Bindings: Union Atlas It's just okay at pow, and pretty good in the park. So the 2018 review still stands and the changes werent big enough to tax Jones to borrow the board again. So all in all my crew and I had a great time with this ride and I think every one of us would like to have this board in our quiver.
